It wasn't so long ago that an Elder here at City Centre Church asked if I knew how to add a digital letterhead to our website tab, and naturally, I didn't have a clue. As a person who is just learning to fill out our webpage, I was scared that I was going to mess everything up and would have to call in the person who gave us the website skeleton we've been working with to fix all my mistakes. But then, after taking a deep breath, I tried to add our logo to that little tab you see when you open our internet page: and you know what? It worked! If you're reading this, you can look up to the top of this page and see that tab with our little church logo now!
Going back to our sermon two weeks ago on Matthew 25, there I was, a 'one-bagger' at best when it came to website creation and now: now here I am adding things to make this page even better when a month ago, I wouldn't even know where to start! I could have hidden my one-bag ability in my backyard, and no one would have been any the wiser, but I prayed for patience and guidance, and gave it a shot. And now: see that little green guy on the tab of the page that looks like our logo? That was me: making my one bag into two and then sharing in my Master's happiness! I used what God gave me, dedicated my efforts to keeping the end in view, and now I've cemented in my mind how to do this so I, in turn, can share it with others!
Friends, we all start somewhere with all the resources God has given us, but as the parable states, are you trying to put your talents to work even when you're afraid to try? Because it's totally worth it!
Matthew 25:
14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.
19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’
21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’
